THE IMPACT OF COVID-19
OIC is not immune to the risks and challenges that are being faced by many not-for-profit organisations all over the world as a result of Covid-19.
Our team in Cambodia continue to do ground-breaking work and all of the team is working remotely and meeting the challenges of the COVID world, including delivering training and much needed speech therapy services via zoom calls.
The OIC Australia team continue to work remotely to ensure the safety of the team and are finding ways to navigate the challenges of fundraising during a pandemic.
Since the start of the pandemic our organisation has seen the postponement and cancellations of grants, as well as the cancellation of fundraising events and volunteer placements.
This puts the future of OIC in jeopardy as we risk losing valuable specialist staff whose skills are essential to OIC’s mission, especially those who are from outside Cambodia who have committed to stay and keep working with us when many have returned home. This disruption to our funding means we risk losing these staff forever and vital projects will be put on hold.
